Bailey et Ozzie sont un couple lié de Ara bleu et or. Ozzie a environ 30 ans et Bailey a 14 ans et est de sexe masculin. Histoire/Contexte : Bailey et Ozzie sont entrés dans la fondation en 2025. État actuel : Bailey a des plumes très parfaites. Ozzie est assez usé, surtout sa queue. Entraînement : Nous travaillons dessus ! Cela nécessitera un processus continu. Les deux oiseaux sont bien élevés, ils retournent généralement dans leur cage quand on les leur demande et mettent leur nourriture à l'intérieur. Bailey est toujours le premier, puis Ozzie suit. Vous ne pouvez pas les manipuler, ils ne montent pas sur les mains car on ne leur a jamais appris. Ozzie monte toujours sur un bâton si vous devez le déplacer, mais Bailey le fait seulement parfois. Les deux acceptent les friandises doucement de votre main. Ozzie est beaucoup plus nerveux et reste en arrière, il aime se flatter et charger pour vous faire peur. Bailey est certainement plus sociable et plus disposé à apprendre. Il est le chef ! Alimentation : Les garçons ont des légumes coupés frais pendant la journée et Tidymix ou J&J faible en tournesol/noix le soir. Ils adorent les piments rouges sucrés et leurs noix préférées sont les cacahuètes et les noix de pécan. Ozzie mange plus de nourriture fraîche que Bailey, il est plus difficile à convaincre. Ils ont besoin de deux bols de tout, chacun en a un. Cependant, parfois Bailey pense qu'ils sont tous à lui ! Enrichissement : Aucun des oiseaux n'est habitué aux jouets, et il n'y avait pas de perches adaptées à la taille dans leur cage. Ils ont maintenant des jouets et une variété de perches. Ils ne sont pas contre les jouets pour perroquets dans la cage, mais ne les utilisent pas vraiment. Ils apprécient le papier brun froissé et déchirent les boîtes en carton. Bailey aime jeter les boîtes de céréales depuis le haut de la cage, et il trouve ça génial ! Bailey adore prendre une douche, Ozzie n'est pas contre mais moins enthousiaste ! Résumé : Ce sont de beaux oiseaux et ils ont été un plaisir à garder en famille d'accueil. Je crois qu'avec beaucoup de soins et de patience, ils feront de grands progrès. Bailey en particulier, car il est beaucoup plus réceptif et disposé à apprendre et à interagir avec vous. Ils ont besoin d'un foyer avec un propriétaire ferme et confiant, habitué aux grands oiseaux. Ces types ne sont pas des oiseaux familiers ou câlinés. Ils sont heureux de faire leur propre chose. Ils sont habitués à être hors de leur cage toute la journée, assis ensemble et observant le monde passer, ou marchant sur le sol, mâchant du carton, suivant l'un l'autre comme de petits canards. Ils font tout ensemble ! Oz aime courir et poursuivre les pieds, donc attention aux orteils ! Bailey peut être assez bruyant, mais pas trop souvent. Ozzie est plus calme. Vous n'entendez pas un seul cri entre 20h et 8h. Quand vous leur dites bonne nuit, ils disent tous les deux « bonjour, bonjour, bonjour » en chœur comme des jumeaux. Ils sont habitués à avoir une assistante principale féminine pour l'instant. Les deux permettent à la personne de nettoyer la cage quotidiennement sans aucun problème, ils aiment regarder pour s'assurer que je fais cela correctement. Ils restent tranquillement sur leur longe perche ou sur le dessus de la cage pendant que je change les papiers et que je nettoie les barres. Bailey adore montrer ses talents et pendre au plafond de la cage par son bec ! Ozzie est le meilleur danseur et adore montrer ses grandes ailes ! Voulez-vous les adopter ? Bailey and Ozzie are a bonded Pair of B&G Macaws. Ozzie is approximately 30 years old and Bailey is 14 years old and DNA Male. History/Background: Bailey and Ozzie came into the charity in 2025. Current Condition: Bailey has pretty perfect feathers. Ozzie is rather tatty especially his tail. Training: We are working on it! This will need to be an ongoing process. Both birds are well behaved, they usually go back to the cage when you ask them to and put their food in. Bailey is usually first then Ozzie follows. You can't handle either of them, they don't step up to hands as they never have never been taught. Ozzie will always step up on a stick if you need to move him, but Bailey only sometimes will. They will both take treats gently from your hand. Ozzie is a lot more nervous though and stays back, he likes to fluff up and lunge, to scare you off. Bailey is definitely more outgoing and willing to learn. He's the boss! Diet: The boys have chop/fresh veg during the day and Tidymix or J&J low Sunflower/nuts in the evenings. They love sweet red peppers and their favourite nuts are cashews and walnuts. Ozzie eats more fresh food than Bailey, he is harder to convince. They do need two bowls of everything, so they have one each. However sometimes Bailey likes to think that they are all his! Enrichment: Neither Bird is used to having toys, and there were no suitable size perches in their cage. They now have toys and a variety of perches. They don't mind parrot toys in the cage but do not really play with them. They enjoy scrunched up brown paper and shredding cardboard boxes. Bailey likes to throw cereal boxes from the top of the cage, and he thinks it's great! Bailey also loves a shower, Ozzie doesn't mind, but not as enthusiastic! Summary: They are beautiful birds and have been a pleasure to safe house. I believe with a lot of TLC and patience they will come along in leaps and bounds. Bailey especially as he is a lot more responsive and willing to learn and interact with you. They need a home with a firm, confident owner, who is used to big birds. These guys are not tame, cuddly birds. They are happy doing their own thing. They are used to being out of the cage all day, sitting together and watching the world go by, or waddling round the floor, chewing cardboard, following each other like little ducks. They do everything together! Oz does like to run and chase feet though. So watch your toes! Bailey can be quite loud, but not too often. Ozzie is quieter. You do not hear a peep out of them between 8pm and 8am. When you say night night to them they both say ‘hello, hello, hello!' in tandem like twins. They are used to having a female main carer at present. Both of them let me clean the cage everyday with no problems at all, they like watching to make sure I'm doing it right. They will happily sit on their long perch or on top of the cage while I change the papers and wipe down the bars. Bailey loves showing off and hanging from the roof of the cage by his beak!
