Ralph é um cão de tamanho médio, cruzado com Labrador dourado, com cerca de oito anos. Ainda não foi testado com gatos. Prefere ser o único cão em casa. Crianças a partir dos 12 anos. Acreditamos que este rapaz seja filho de Rupert e é um verdadeiro retrato do pai tanto na aparência como nos manejos obstinados. O pobre Ralph passou anos no abrigo público de Botosani na Roménia, os seus dois irmãos ainda estão lá e não podem vir para nós até que encontremos lares para os dois almas tão semelhantes que já temos! Ralph é uma alma doce que está a aprender tudo sobre a sua nova vida doméstica, mas insiste em protestar um pouco em relação a "novas habilidades" como andar com coleira. Ele fará isso e vai gostar do passeio, mas precisa primeiro dizer-lhe que não aprecia estar limitado a ir para onde os humanos querem que ele vá. Se quiser cheirar algo, vai deixar-te saber, é realmente muito divertido! Pede carinho, mas depois parece confuso sobre por que pediu e por que está a gostar disso, mas podes ver que está. É muito para se acostumar e ele está a passar pelo processo do seu próprio modo único e estamos adorando assistir ao acontecer. Ralph convive com outros cães até certo ponto, mas prefere ser o único cão em casa. Apesar de nunca ter tido uma cama ou cobertores na vida antes, decidiu que gosta deles e não quer partilhá-los. É tudo bravata, mas talvez fosse mais fácil deixá-lo fazer à sua maneira e deixá-lo ser o único cão em casa, pois merece ser mimado após tudo! Pode viver com crianças respeitosas com mais de 12 anos. Apesar das suas travessuras cómicas, Ralph está muito feliz por estar aqui e estar ao lado dos humanos que parece entender que estão apenas tentando amá-lo e serem seus amigos. Se o teu cão ficar assustado, a coleira de escorrega é a única forma de evitar que o teu cão escape (muitos cães escapam de colarinhos e/ou capacetes). Levará no mínimo 3-6 meses para o teu cão se adaptar e para tu conheceres bem o teu cão (mais tempo para cães nervosos). A coleira de escorrega deve ser usada sempre durante este período de adaptação. Mesmo após o teu cão se adaptar, é mais seguro usar a coleira de escorrega em situações em que o teu cão possa ficar assustado (ex: visitas a novos lugares, à volta de pessoas desconhecidas, no veterinário), e em situações em que possam ocorrer gatilhos inesperados (ex: em festas de fogos de artifício). Ralph is a medium sized golden Labrador cross aged around eight years old. Isn’t yet cat tested. He’d rather be the only dog in the home.Children 12 plus. We believe this boy to be Rupert’s son and he’s an absolute chip off the old block with both looks and stubborn mannerisms. Poor Ralph spent years in the Botosani public shelter in Romania, his two brothers are still there and can’t come to us until we’ve found homes for the two such similar souls that we have already! Ralph is a sweet old soul that is learning all about his new domestic life, but he’s insistent on putting up a little bit of protest regarding “new tricks” such as walking on a lead. He’ll do it, and he’ll enjoy the walk, but he’s just gotta tell you first that he doesn’t appreciate being restricted to going where the humans want him to go. If he wants to sniff something, he’s going to let you know, he’s just actually very amusing! He asks for a fuss but then looks confused about why he’s asked and why he’s enjoying it, but you can see that he is. It’s a lot to get used to and he’s just through the process in his own unique way and we’re loving watching it happen. Ralph gets on with other dogs to a point but would rather be the only dog in the home. Despite never having a bed or bedding in his life before, he’s decided he likes them and he doesn’t want to share them. It’s all bluster and bravado but perhaps it would be easier just to let him have his own way in this one and let him be the only dog in the home, he does deserve to be spoilt after all! He could live with respectful children aged twelve plus. Despite all the comedy antics, Ralph is so happy to be here and be around the humans who he seems to understand are just trying to love him and be his friend. His tail is wagging a lot these days and he just needs his own forever home to wag it in! Senior dogs (10+ years): £150–£250 (depending on age and individual needs). Adoption Terms & Conditions When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a secure metal crate.
