Ralph è un incrocio Labrador dorato di taglia media, circa otto anni. Non è ancora testato con i gatti. Preferirebbe essere l'unico cane in casa. Bambini di 12 anni in su. Crediamo che questo ragazzo sia figlio di Rupert e è proprio il classico figlio del padre con aspetto e comportamento testardo. Povero Ralph ha trascorso anni nel rifugio pubblico di Botosani in Romania, i suoi due fratelli sono ancora lì e non possono venire da noi finché non avremo trovato case per due anime così simili che abbiamo già! Ralph è un dolce vecchio cuore che sta imparando tutto sulla sua nuova vita domestica, ma è insistente nel mettere un po' di protesta riguardo alle "nuove regole" come camminare con la guinzaglio. Lui lo farà e godrà della passeggiata, ma deve prima dirvi che non apprezzia di essere limitato a dove i umani vogliono che vada. Se vuole annusare qualcosa, ve lo farà sapere, è davvero divertente! Chiede attenzioni ma poi sembra confuso sul perché l'ha chiesto e perché lo sta godendo, ma si vede che lo fa. È molto da abituarsi e lui lo sta facendo nel suo modo unico e noi adoriamo guardarlo accadere. Ralph si intende con altri cani fino a un certo punto ma preferirebbe essere l'unico cane in casa. Nonostante non abbia mai avuto un letto o coperte nella sua vita, ha deciso che gli piacciono e non vuole condividerli. È tutto spavalderia e coraggio, ma forse sarebbe più facile lasciarlo avere la sua strada in questo caso e lasciarlo essere l'unico cane in casa, merita di essere viziato dopo tutto! Potrebbe vivere con bambini rispettosi di 12 anni in su. Nonostante tutte le buffonate, Ralph è molto felice di essere qui e di stare con le persone che sembra capire stiano solo cercando di amarlo e di essere suoi amici. Cani anziani (10+ anni): £150-£250 (in base all'età e alle esigenze individuali). Condizioni generali per l'adozione Quando adotti un cane da Safe Rescue, devi usare un collare a scivolo. Questo terrà il tuo cane al sicuro: il tuo nuovo cane sarà nervoso e non ti vorrà bene, e non saprai quali situazioni potrebbero turbare il tuo cane. Se il tuo cane si spaventa, allora il collare a scivolo è l'unica via per evitare che fugga (molti cani possono scappare da collari e/o pettorine). Ci vorranno ALMENO 3-6 mesi per far sistemare il cane e per conoscerlo pienamente (più tempo per i cani nervosi). Il collare a scivolo deve sempre essere usato durante il periodo di adattamento. Anche dopo che il cane si è sistemato, è più sicuro usare il collare a scivolo in situazioni in cui il cane potrebbe spaventarsi (es. visitare luoghi nuovi, vicino a persone sconosciute, dal veterinario), e in situazioni in cui potrebbe esserci un trigger inaspettato (es. durante la notte del fuoco d'artificio). I cani nervosi potrebbero dover indossare sempre il collare a scivolo come misura di sicurezza aggiuntiva. Il collare a scivolo è un dispositivo di sicurezza e non deve mai essere utilizzato come strumento di addestramento. Usare la guinzaglio per applicare pressione sul collo del cane è dannoso. Se il tuo cane tira la guinzaglio, possiamo consigliarti metodi di addestramento che evitino danni. Una volta che il cane si è sistemato, puoi considerare l'uso di una pettorina (insieme al collare a scivolo) se il cane è abituato ad essere toccato quando è fissata. Ralph is a medium sized golden Labrador cross aged around eight years old. Passed cat testing. He’d rather be the only dog in the home. Children 12 plus. We believe this boy to be Rupert’s son. Poor Ralph spent years in the Botosani public shelter in Romania, his two brothers are still there and can’t come to us until we’ve found homes for the two such similar souls that we have already! Ralph is a sweet old soul that is learning all about his new domestic life and has adapted brilliantly to his new challenges. He is a very chilled gentleman who likes the simple things of walks, food, fuss, play and sleep. Although reticent to have a lead on initially, he has now worked through this and as soon as you pick up poo bags he knows its walkies time and will stand at the gate wagging his tail looking at you, telling you to hurry up silently! He walks beautifully on the lead with no pulling. He loves a cuddle and a belly scratch. Ralph is very sociable and on walks will happily approach and play with other dogs and enjoy a fuss from unfamiliar people. He could live with respectful children aged twelve plus. Ralph is so happy to be here and be around the humans who he seems to understand are just trying to love him and be his friend. His tail is wagging a lot these days and he just needs his own forever home to wag it in! Ralph has passed his cat testing. Senior dogs (10+ years): £150–£250 (depending on age and individual needs). Adoption Terms & Conditions When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a secure metal crate.
