Lizak

Male · Young · 1 year

Sweet-natured, with a touch of toughness - that's 'a dog for the sixth' - Lizak. Lizak is about a year old and was taken to the animal shelter through an intervention. He was taken from one of the Warsaw plots where he was staying with other dogs and farm animals. The caregiver who was in charge of the area simply abandoned them. At first, Lizak is distrustful of new people, but needs just a few minutes to open up. When he feels safer, he becomes a dog who really wants to be close to a person - he approaches on his own, demands attention, and can loudly complain for pats. The hardest moments for him are when he has to part from the volunteer. Left in the crate after a walk, he can cry and call out as if he wanted to say: 'stay a little longer', which confirms that the dog really needs presence and contact. Lizak has something of a terrier - he likes to sniff, explore, and have his head occupied. This is a dog who will feel best with someone who can provide not only exercise but also activities and attention. In relations with other dogs, it varies - he doesn't back down, so the future caregiver should be ready for conscious guidance and work in this area. Our charge will find himself in city life. He is young, energetic, and ready for a new beginning. He just needs someone who will show him that this time no one will leave him. Although his name is Lizak, his story was anything but sweet - it's high time to change that. We invite you to meet this special furball. Słodki z imienia, charakter z nutą pazura - czyli 'pies na szóstkę' - Lizak. Lizak ma około roku i trafił do schroniska interwencyjnie. Został odebrany z jednej z warszawskich działek, gdzie przebywał razem z innymi psami i zwierzętami gospodarskimi. About Lizak

What life with Lizak looks like

Lizak is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lizak, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lizak?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lizak on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lizak if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lizak already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lizak isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lizak and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
