Kostek

Male · Young · 3 years

York with aspirations for a schnauzer wants his person! Kostek is a smallish dog on higher paws, who looks like a york but apparently decided to add the character and silhouette of a larger canine. Our new protégé arrived in poor health. Currently, he is undergoing treatment and diagnostics, and he will also be getting neutered. A grooming session brought him some relief and allowed him to get rid of the neglected fur, but it also revealed a few health issues. Kostek has lumps on his body that require further diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, he occasionally shows signs of a limp, whose cause is currently unknown. Fortunately, the interested party isn't overly concerned about this. He is a very social, open dog who quickly adjusts to new situations. He greets new people wagging his tail, and a few minutes later, he'd rather be sitting on their laps. He loves people and has no problem making contact. In terms of other dogs, he remains rather indifferent. We don't know if he previously lived in a home, but many suggest that urban life is not unfamiliar to him. Cars, buses, or street traffic don't make much of an impression on him. Kostek should also fit well as the first dog in a family. We are looking for a home that, besides his charming personality, will also accept that he will still have a few veterinary visits and further diagnostics ahead. Kostek has been with us for a short while, so he might still surprise us, and his description will be updated.

W stosunku do innych psów pozostaje raczej obojętny. Jeśli jednak chcecie poznać psa z dużą osobowością i jeszcze większymi ambicjami rasowymi, zapraszamy do kontaktu. About Kostek

What life with Kostek looks like

Kostek is a small young adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kostek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kostek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kostek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kostek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kostek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kostek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kostek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
