Lolek

Male · Adult · 5 years

Lolek—leader of the chaos, bodyguard, and self-proclaimed boss of the duo Bolek and Lolek. He’s six years old and weighs about as much as a decent loaf of bread. He may look unassuming, but that’s just a clever smokescreen. He arrived at the shelter together with Bolek, and it quickly became clear that their relationship was anything but casual. Lolek treats Bolek like his younger partner in crime, a client under protection, or even a member of a very exclusive organization of which he’s simultaneously president, bodyguard, and press spokesperson. The two little dogs are incredibly close, and we’d love to find them a forever home together. It’s Lolek who makes the decisions, scouts out the territory, and is the first to spot any irregularities. And by “any irregularities,” we mean things like other dogs, suspicious leaves, overly energetic pigeons, and situations where the world doesn’t revolve quite enough around Bolek. On walks, Lolek moves with great agility and walks nicely on the leash. At the same time, it’s worth noting that he can be quite direct toward other dogs. Lolek doesn’t believe in diplomacy. If he has something to say, he says it right away, loudly, and so that the whole neighborhood can hear. And usually, he does have something to say. We’re looking for a guardian who understands that a chihuahua is a full-fledged dog, not just a purse accessory. Lolek doesn’t dream of being a trendy accessory; he dreams of managing his own territory, controlling walks, and keeping an eye on Bolek. And honestly, he’s pretty good at it.

PL·Show original

Lolek - kierownik zamieszania, ochroniarz i samozwańczy szef duetu Bolek i Lolek. Marzy o zarządzaniu swoim terytorium, kontrolowaniu spacerów i pilnowaniu Bolka. I szczerze mówiąc, całkiem dobrze mu to wychodzi.

About Lolek

What life with Lolek looks like

Lolek is a small adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lolek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lolek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lolek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lolek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lolek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lolek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lolek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
