Abby

Mixed Breed · Female

Adopt a Cat ‘Abby’ 534 Views Little ‘Abby’ was so neglected when she was brought to us as a stray. We took her to our Vet immediately due to her very poor condition / flea & worm infested / considerably hair loss and so, so hungry 😿 Our Vet scored her body condition as 1 😿 This little girl has improved SO much, she no longer feels that every meal is going to be her last. She has put on weight and even though she was petrified when coming into care she is now trusting and very relaxed. We believe she is an older cat, possibly 10 or just over – as she hasnt had the best of care it is difficult to be more accurate than that. We are more than happy to home her as ‘A Foster For Life’ – to find out how this works don’t hesitate to get in touch on 521778 / . We feel she would be happiest as an only pet. If you would like to come along and meet this sweet little mites you are very welcome to call us on the numbers above. Please do leave a message and your phone number if I miss your call. About Abby

What life with Abby looks like

Abby is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Feline Welfare (Isle of Wight) in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Abby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Abby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Feline Welfare (Isle of Wight) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Abby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Abby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Feline Welfare (Isle of Wight) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Abby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Abby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Feline Welfare (Isle of Wight) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Abby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
