Abby

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Abby - a companion for all adventures Abby has already put her life in order: house trained, leash trained, compatible with other dogs and relaxed in the car. The clever dog also knows her name. All that's missing is the right place - as a four-legged partner at the side of her humans! Abby is lively, alert and curious about what life has to offer. She brings intelligence, learns willingly and is looking forward to gaining new experiences with her humans. Her future family should enjoy exercise and like to include Abby in their daily routine. Hiking, jogging, exploring new paths or traveling together - that could be just her taste. And whoever spends their working day in the office may like to plan Abby as a colleague on four paws, as long as she is welcome there. Abby also wants to be mentally stimulated. A dog school would be a great opportunity to learn together, develop her skills and grow together as a team. Abby is looking for people who share her joie de vivre, like to travel with her and enjoy learning together and discovering the world. A clever, active female dog like her brings the best prerequisites for many beautiful years together. Who wants to show Abby that the most beautiful adventures are yet to come? Contact: Sabine Krauss email: Our dogs are vaccinated (rabies and 2x basic immunization) are chipped and equipped with the EU pet passport are tested for the common Mediterranean diseases at our expense (we cover the laboratory fees): Babesiosis, Ehrlichiosis, Leishmaniasis, Rickettsia, Filaria, Hepatozoonosis, Anaplasmosis are only mediated against a deposit with a protection contract after a positive preliminary check (house visit). About Abby

What life with Abby looks like

Abby is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Lebenswert e.V. in Oberwies.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Abby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Abby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Lebenswert e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Abby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Abby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Lebenswert e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Abby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Abby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Lebenswert e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Abby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
