Achille

Cane Corso · Unknown · Puppy · 6 months

A post shared by PetrescueItalia APS () Achille was found as a puppy in a shelter in southern Italy and there he grew up, learning from an early age the life made of cages, gates that open and close, distant noises and silent waits. After many years he arrived at our northern shelter, bringing with him all the sweetness and sensitivity of a dog who, despite everything, never stopped trusting people. Achille is a gentle giant with a delicate heart. During walks he walks beside you calmly, without pulling on the leash, almost as if he just wants to share the moment. With him everything slows down: noises become lighter, time seems to stretch, and even a simple outing becomes something special. He is used to the presence of other dogs and lives peacefully with them, always balanced and respectful. But it is in the small daily gestures that he shows the most beautiful part of himself: a soft look, the search for a caress, that calm and quiet way of being close without ever intruding. Achille has spent most of his life in a shelter and perhaps for this reason he knows how to value simple things: a bit of grass to sniff, the sun on his face, a walk done together with someone who chooses to walk beside him.

About Achille

What life with Achille looks like

Achille is a large puppy/kitten cane corso dog waiting at Pet Rescue Italia in Cornaredo.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Achille, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Achille?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pet Rescue Italia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Achille on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Achille if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pet Rescue Italia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Achille already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Achille isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pet Rescue Italia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Achille and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
