Adopt KUMA

Cane Corso · Female · Senior · 9 years

KUMA is a majestic Cane Corso born on July 17, 2017, and is a living example of how big a dog's heart can be! Despite her past not being the easiest, KUMA has not lost her desire to love. Private surrender, KUMA has spent her entire life confined in a cage or outside, probably only used for litters... she has never known the pleasure of a walk, the smell of a forest or the warmth of a carpet in the living room! But do you know what's amazing? Despite everything, KUMA is disarmingly gentle. She is a real cuddler, extremely affectionate with everyone she meets. Don't be fooled by her size or breed: in that large body beats the heart of a puppy who just wants to make up for lost time. Due to her age, she has some minor aches from time and life spent outside, but nothing that prevents her from enjoying her new beginning! What are we looking for for her? This time we don't compromise: NO yard, NO cage. We are looking for a family that will welcome her into the home as an integral part of the family, involve her in daily life and slowly show her how beautiful the world is outside that cage!

Questa volta non transigiamo: NO giardino, NO box. Cerchiamo una famiglia che la accolga in casa come parte integrante del nucleo familiare, che la coinvolga nella vita quotidiana e le faccia scoprire, con calma, quanto è bello il mondo fuori da quella gabbia!

About KUMA

What life with KUMA looks like

KUMA is a medium-sized senior cane corso dog waiting at Canile San Francesco Padova in Padova.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting KUMA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about KUMA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Canile San Francesco Padova handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw KUMA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt KUMA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Canile San Francesco Padova will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is KUMA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if KUMA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Canile San Francesco Padova early rather than rehoming privately; they know KUMA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
