Adopt Ada

Female · Young · 1 year

Ada is a brave and loving little lady. She is somewhat cautious at first meeting, but once she feels safe, she forms strong bonds and loves to be close to her human. Her favorite moments are when she gets to lie on her back and be scratched on her belly or come forward and gently place a paw on you to ask for attention or a walk. Ada enjoys quiet walks where she can sniff around at her own pace. She becomes like a little researcher on an adventure, and also appreciates just sitting and watching the world. She is well-behaved and finds joy in being near, treats (especially cooked chicken) in moderate amounts, and calm moments together. Ada is not very fond of riding in a car, but she accepts it calmly. At dog meetings, she may bark if other dogs come too close, but it is easy to distract her. Ada is currently very overweight, and a future home needs to continue supporting her towards a target weight. Ada can live both in an apartment and a house, as long as she can be close to her person and live in a safe environment. She thrives best in a quieter home, although she can handle some activity. A home with older children (around 12–13 years and up) can work well, provided they respect her need for calm. Ada would prefer to live without the company of another dog.

Read original (sv)

About Ada

What life with Ada looks like

Ada is a small young adult dog waiting at Hundstallet in Stockholm.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇪Adopting from Sweden

Swedish shelters require an adoption application and home visit. Animals are chipped, vaccinated, and sterilized. Cross-border placements within the EU use the standard pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ada, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ada?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundstallet handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ada on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ada if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundstallet will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ada already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ada isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundstallet early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ada and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
