Adonis

Gender: Male Age: Born in October 2024 Adonis – a sensitive young male dog with great potential seeks patient people Adonis is a young male dog born in October 2024, standing about 40 cm at the shoulder and weighing around 15–20 kg. He currently lives at SAWA, a private shelter with which we closely cooperate. Adonis was found together with other dogs after an earthquake, hidden under a staircase near the trash – an experience that left its mark. It’s no wonder then that he is still wary and skeptical of people. His reserve, however, is not aggression but pure insecurity. Despite his fear, Adonis can be approached, always remaining friendly and showing that a wonderful, gentle personality lies within, waiting to be unleashed. Compared to his companion Apollo, he is already a bit more approachable, but still needs patience, calm, and understanding people who can give him time to build trust. With other dogs, Adonis is absolutely uncomplicated and social, they give him security and orientation. A confident single dog could be very helpful to him. Adonis seeks a home with people who know that trust grows – step by step. Whoever gives him this chance will see how a cautious dog can become a loyal, loving companion. If you like Adonis, fill out our placement form. You can also temporarily take Adonis in as a foster dog. More dogs are looking for homes... Mia San wants a quiet dog bed for herself. Milly has been waiting so long for her people. Maya wants her own home. Oscar is friendly and open not only to people but also to other dogs. This animal can be anxious in unfamiliar situations.

About Adonis

What life with Adonis looks like

Adonis is a small young adult pointer dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. in Bad Vilbel.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Adonis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Adonis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Adonis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Adonis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Adonis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Adonis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Hunde in Not Rhein-Main e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Adonis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
