Greyhound ยท Male ยท Puppy

Hello from your big gentle baby and enthusiastic gardener What his foster pawrents say: "Jake is a big gentle baby. He LOVES people and dogs alike. He loves cuddles and will gently nudge you with a paw when he wants some extra attention. He is an absolute dote!" ๐ŸŽ‚ Age: 14 months in July 2026. ๐Ÿ’™ Nature: Sweet, affectionate and an absolute dote. ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿคโ€๐Ÿง‘ People and dogs: Loves them alike. ๐Ÿพ Paw of more: A master, whenever extra cuddles are needed. ๐Ÿ›‹ Sofa: Thoroughly discovered. ๐Ÿค— Company: He loves people, so a home with plenty of cuddles on offer. ๐Ÿ‘ง Children: Aged 10 or over and dog-savvy. ๐ŸŒณ Garden: Not essential. If there is one, it must be fully enclosed and secure (and heโ€™ll happily help with the digging). Apply: Fill in the adoption questionnaire about you, your home and the kind of hound youโ€™re hoping for. Chat and home check: A homing coordinator calls to answer your questions and arranges a home check. Meet Jake: Meet Jake and his foster family, who can tell you all about his personality, quirks and needs. Home trial: If it clicks, Jake goes home with you on a trial. Trials usually last about two weeks and can be extended, and the team supports you throughout. Adoption fee: The fee goes towards part of Jakeโ€™s vet costs. A vet neuters, vaccinates and microchips him before he goes home. Read the full . Jake has spent the morning exploring his new surroundings, taking in all the new sights and sounds, and he is taking everything in his stride ๐Ÿพ. So far, his favourite hobbies include dispensing smooches ๐Ÿ˜˜, giving the paw of more whenever he would like extra cuddles, and launching surprise sneak attacks on Cleo the Caterpillar ๐Ÿ›. Safe to say, Jake is settling into home life beautifully. Today was a big day for Jake as he waved goodbye to kennel life forever and made the journey to Dublin to begin his new chapter in a loving foster home ๐Ÿก. This is the start of his journey towards finding his forever family, and we could not be happier for him. We are delighted to share that Jake has settled into home life wonderfully. He is a sweet and affectionate boy who loves the company of both humans and houndies alike. He quickly won over the resident houndies with his gentle, loving ways and was only too happy to lend a paw in the garden ๐ŸŒฟ. He wasted no time showing off his gardening skills, enthusiastically helping with some digging before deciding that the vegetable patch made the perfect spot for a well-earned nap ๐Ÿ˜ด. A true garden helper at heart. It did not take Jake long to discover the sofa either, and he proudly showed off his impressive paw of more skills when extra cuddles were required ๐Ÿพ. ๐Ÿ’™ Sweet, affectionate and an absolute dote๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿคโ€๐Ÿง‘ Loves people and houndies alike๐Ÿ• Won over the resident houndies with his gentle, loving ways๐Ÿพ A master of the paw of more when extra cuddles are needed๐ŸŒฟ Enthusiastic gardener, expert vegetable patch napper๐Ÿ›‹ Has thoroughly discovered the sofa Jake is currently in foster in Dublin. About Jake

What life with Jake looks like

Jake is a large puppy greyhound dog waiting at RIGHT - Rehoming Irish Greyhounds Team in Dublin.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window โ€” house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ชAdopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Jake, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jake?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RIGHT - Rehoming Irish Greyhounds Team handles screening and the adoption contract directly โ€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jake on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jake if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad โ€” RIGHT - Rehoming Irish Greyhounds Team will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Jake already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported โ€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jake isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work โ€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RIGHT - Rehoming Irish Greyhounds Team early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jake and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect โ€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
