Adopt Lucy

Greyhound · Female · Adult · 5 years

Hello from your routine-loving girl who is READY for her family What her foster pawrents say: "A gentle, affectionate girl who has already mastered the art of the paw of more." Lucy has settled into life as a house guest wonderfully and is showing her foster family just how much she enjoys the comforts and perks of life in a loving home 🥰. Lucy is a girl who loves a routine and enjoys her mornings. She likes to start the day with some time in the garden, followed by a little playtime with her toys, her morning walk and then, of course, breakfast! 🍳 She is a very happy girl when it comes to food and looks forward to her meals and treats. Lucy is also very good at letting her foster family know when she needs to head outside and is quite happy to pop into the garden by herself when the door is open. Most of all, Lucy really enjoys company. She loves having her people nearby and is always thrilled to see them in the morning or when they get home from outings ❤️. At 3.5 years old, Lucy has so much love and life to share, and we would love nothing more than to see this beautiful girl find the family she can call her own. Yesterday this sweet houndie jumped off our waiting list and into her loving foster home 🏡. A heartfelt THANK YOU to Dael and family for answering our foster appeal, opening both your home and your hearts to Lucy, and giving her the chance to begin her journey home 🙏. Rumour has it Lucy is settling in wonderfully. She is a gentle, affectionate girl who has already mastered the art of the paw of more when she would like a few more ear scratches 🐾. She has been enjoying exploring her new surroundings, sniffing around the garden, playing with her beloved Cleo the Caterpillar 🐛 and then curling up for a well-earned snooze. She is taking everything in her stride and is proving to be a curious, happy houndie. A sincere thank you to Siobhan for once again coming to the rescue and safely transporting Lucy to her foster home. We greatly appreciate your time and effort. 💛 Gentle, affectionate and a lover of routine 🍳 Very happy about food, and looks forward to every meal 🧻 Reliable in the house and signals clearly when she needs to go out 🌳 Happy to pop out to the garden all by herself 🐛 Devoted to Cleo the Caterpillar 💞 Loves company and having her people nearby 🏡 A household with a steady routine she can settle into 👨‍👩‍👧 People who are around and enjoy her company 🌳 A secure garden she can potter in Lucy is currently in foster in Dublin and is looking for her forever home in Ireland. About Adopt Lucy

What life with Adopt Lucy looks like

Adopt Lucy is a large adult greyhound dog waiting at RIGHT - Rehoming Irish Greyhounds Team in Dublin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Adopt Lucy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Adopt Lucy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RIGHT - Rehoming Irish Greyhounds Team handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Adopt Lucy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Adopt Lucy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RIGHT - Rehoming Irish Greyhounds Team will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Adopt Lucy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Adopt Lucy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RIGHT - Rehoming Irish Greyhounds Team early rather than rehoming privately; they know Adopt Lucy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
