Adopt Ryan

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Ryan is a fun-loving and affectionate young lad who is ready to find a family of his own. This handsome boy is looking for patient adopters who can help him continue to build his confidence and guide him as he settles into home life. Ryan came into our care as a stray and found the busy kennel environment quite daunting at first. However, once he has had the chance to get to know you, his affectionate and playful personality soon shines through. He loves spending time with his favourite people and enjoys being involved in whatever they're doing. True to his terrier roots, Ryan is full of character and always ready for some fun. He adores playing with toys and has a particular weakness for soft cuddly ones – although they don't always survive his enthusiastic play sessions intact! As Ryan is deaf, he is looking for understanding adopters who can support him with positive reward-based training using visual cues and help him navigate the world safely. His new family will need to be mindful of approaching him gently so as not to startle him and ensure he remains secure when out and about. Deaf dogs can thrive in loving homes, and Ryan is sure to reward his family with endless love and companionship. Due to his sensitive side, Ryan would be best suited to a home with children aged 14 years and over who can appreciate that he may need a little time to settle and build trust. Once comfortable, he is a wonderfully affectionate and entertaining companion. This sweet and goofy boy would love a calm but active home where he can enjoy plenty of adventures, playtimes and cuddles, and where he can truly become part of the family. About Adopt Ryan

What life with Adopt Ryan looks like

Adopt Ryan is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hope Rescue in Pontyclun.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Adopt Ryan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Adopt Ryan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Adopt Ryan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Adopt Ryan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Adopt Ryan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Adopt Ryan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Adopt Ryan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
