Piglet

Mixed Breed Β· Female

Size:Piglet weighs about 21kg. Can live with:Piglet gets on well with other dogs but can be quite full-on when she plays. She needs to be the only dog in her new home. Piglet originally came to us back in April via another rescue. Unfortunately she was returned to us recently due to a change in personal circumstances. Piglet was born blind and will need lots of help to learn about her new home including how to navigate it safely as well as where to sleep, eat and toilet. Her new family will have to be patient and understanding and give the assistance and time she needs to settle. Piglet is a friendly, lovable girl who charms everyone she meets. She is very enthusiastic and loves saying hi to people and giving hugs and kisses. She knows how to sit and give paw and was housetrained in her previous home. She is a typical bully breed and can be cheeky and very mouthy when playing, she would be best with a family that understands her breed and their quirks. She loves other dogs and likes to spend time with them on her walks, although, she can be very full on when playing and finds it hard to understand boundaries. Piglet needs a home that understands or has researched the specific needs and training that a blind dog requires. This includes the importance of a strong routine, guidance and understanding how to teach Piglet about her new home, routes and environment. Piglet would benefit from her own garden and could live with older children who are very dog savvy.

About Piglet

What life with Piglet looks like

Piglet is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at RSPCA Brighton and the Heart of Sussex in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Piglet, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Piglet?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Brighton and the Heart of Sussex handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Piglet on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Piglet if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” RSPCA Brighton and the Heart of Sussex will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Piglet already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Piglet isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Brighton and the Heart of Sussex early rather than rehoming privately; they know Piglet and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
