Adopt Tig

Mixed Breed Β· Male Β· Adult Β· 6 years

Tig is a 6 year old Pomeranian who is a sweet but sensitive chap. He has epilepsy, which is currently well managed, and he's looking for a patient, understanding home that will continue to help him grow in confidence. Since arriving in foster care, Tig has made fantastic progress. Initially a little unsure around other dogs, he has become much more relaxed. He's currently in foster with another dog and could live with another dog in his new home dependant on a successful introduction at the Centre. An active little dog, Tig is a joy to walk and loves being out exploring and going on adventures with his favourite people. His favourite toys are balls and his treat filled Kong, and he enjoys enrichment that keeps his clever mind busy. Tig forms strong bonds with the people he trusts and loves affection on his own terms. While he enjoys cuddles and gentle fuss, he isn't a typical lap dog and often prefers to relax at the other end of the sofa or on a cool spot on the floor. He can be wary of strangers, particularly if they reach towards his face, so he'll need adopters who are happy to let him build trust at his own pace. Once he knows someone, he becomes a much more affectionate and confident companion. Tig would be happiest in a quiet adult only home or one with sensible older teenagers. At home, Tig settles well after his walks and sleeps soundly through the night. He is house trained, and travels well in the car. Tig can find being left alone a little overwhelming, he'll need a home where someone is around for much of the day initially, with any time left alone built up gradually. Tig would be best suited to a home where adopters are retired or work from home as he would struggle with being left for long periods. Tig has epilepsy, which is currently well controlled with medication. We would be happy to discuss this further with any successful applicants. If you're looking for a bright, active little dog who enjoys walks, games and companionship, and you're willing to give him the time he needs to settle and build trust, Tig could make a wonderful addition to your family. About Adopt Tig

What life with Adopt Tig looks like

Adopt Tig is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hope Rescue in Pontyclun.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Adopt Tig, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Adopt Tig?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Adopt Tig on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Adopt Tig if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Hope Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Adopt Tig already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Adopt Tig isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Adopt Tig and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
