Een tijdje geleden kwam ik in de opvang terecht. Al snel viel op dat eten voor mij best belangrijk is, ook al had ik gelukkig een goed gewicht. De dierenarts ontdekte dat mijn gebit wat extra aandacht nodig had: twee hoektanden en een kies waren afgebroken. Inmiddels is dat gelukkig allemaal achter de rug. En alsof dat nog niet genoeg was, ben ik ook gecastreerd. Kortom: ik ben helemaal klaar voor een nieuw hoofdstuk in mijn leven! En eerlijk gezegd kan dat nieuwe hoofdstuk voor mij niet snel genoeg beginnen. In de opvang word ik natuurlijk goed verzorgd. Iedere ochtend krijg ik bezoek van de schoonmaakmensen en ’s middags komt er gezellig iemand bij me zitten. Zodra ik iemand zie, laat ik luidkeels weten dat ik graag gezelschap wil: “Kom bij mij! Laat me niet alleen, alsjeblieft!” is mijn favoriete boodschap. Ik klim graag op schoot, geef heerlijke kopjes en geniet volop van alle aandacht en kriebels. Daarna begint mijn motortje lekker te snorren. En als het toevallig nodig is, kan ik op schoot ook uitgebreid mijn vacht gaan wassen. Dan blijven mensen natuurlijk vanzelf nog wat langer bij me zitten. Slim van mij, toch? Ook voor een spelletje ben ik zeker te porren. Met een hengeltje kan ik me prima vermaken. Soms ben ik daarbij een klein beetje onhandig, maar ach… het gaat tenslotte om het plezier! Zoals je inmiddels wel begrijpt, ben ik een echte gezelligheidskat. Ik ben dol op mensen en vind het heerlijk om iemand in mijn buurt te hebben die mij aandacht geeft. Maar eerlijk is eerlijk: ik heb het hier inmiddels wel een beetje gezien. Ik verlang ontzettend naar een eigen, liefdevol thuis waar ik helemaal mezelf mag zijn. Hoewel ik een echte knuffelkater ben, kan ik soms wat overprikkeld raken. Op zulke momenten heb ik behoefte aan rust en ruimte. Heel af en toe kan ik een zacht waarschuwingshapje geven om te laten weten dat het mij even te veel wordt. Daarom zoeken mijn verzorgers voor mij een rustig huishouden zonder kinderen en andere huisdieren, bij mensen die mijn signalen goed kunnen herkennen en respecteren. Een thuis met een tuin én een kattenluikje heeft mijn voorkeur. Zo kan ik op eigen initiatief lekker naar buiten wanneer ik daar behoefte aan heb en zelf de balans vinden tussen gezelligheid, avontuur en rust.
