I am a beautiful black and white cat with a lovely thick, soft coat and distinctive folded ears. This is why we know that there is at least a Scottish Fold in my family. Since the beginning of 2026, stricter rules have applied in the Netherlands for cats like me. Cats with folded ears can no longer be kept and bred. This is for a good reason. The folded ears are caused by a hereditary defect of the cartilage and bones. This condition is called osteochondrodysplasia. Because I am being rehomed through an animal shelter, I am lucky to be able to look for a new home. My future owner just needs to know what my condition means and be willing to keep an eye on my health my whole life. I have been examined and X-rays have been taken, on which nothing abnormal can be seen for now. Fortunately, I am currently green-rated: no worrying abnormalities have been found and I have no noticeable pain or limitations. However, joint problems may arise in the future. That is why it is important that I am checked by a veterinarian annually and that my bones and joints are re-evaluated if necessary. Because I am still growing, just like my sister Munk. Of course, I am above all a very sociable girl! I am getting more and more comfortable with people, let me be petted and I love it when you sit down with me. And with a nice toy you make me completely happy. My sister Munk is a bit more cautious than me. We are very attached to each other and that is why we would like to move in together. We are looking for a quiet and loving home where we both get the time to get used to it. With a little patience, I expect Munk to gain more confidence as well. Samen met mijn zusje Munk en onze mama ben ik in het asiel terechtgekomen. Ik ben een mooi zwart-wit poesje met een heerlijk dikke, zachte vacht en opvallende gevouwen oortjes. Daardoor weten we dat er in ieder geval Scottish Fold in mijn familie zit. Sinds begin 2026 gelden er in Nederland strengere regels voor katten zoals ik. Katten met gevouwen oren mogen niet meer zomaar worden gehouden en er mag niet meer met ons worden gefokt. Dat heeft een belangrijke reden. De gevouwen oren worden veroorzaakt door een erfelijke afwijking van het kraakbeen en de botten. Deze aandoening heet osteochondrodysplasie. Omdat ik via een dierenasiel word herplaatst, mag ik gelukkig wél op zoek naar een nieuw thuis. Mijn toekomstige baasje moet alleen goed weten wat mijn aandoening betekent en bereid zijn om mijn gezondheid mijn hele leven goed in de gaten te houden. Ik ben onderzocht en er zijn röntgenfoto’s gemaakt, waarop voor nu niets afwijkends te zien is. Gelukkig ben ik op dit moment groen beoordeeld: er zijn geen zorgelijke afwijkingen gevonden en ik heb geen merkbare pijn of beperkingen. Wel kunnen er in de toekomst gewrichtsproblemen ontstaan. Daarom is het belangrijk dat ik jaarlijks door een dierenarts wordt gecontroleerd en dat mijn botten en gewrichten waar nodig opnieuw worden beoordeeld. Want ik ben net als mijn zusje Munk nog in de groei. Uiteraard ik ben vooral een heel gezellig meisje! Ik voel me steeds meer op mijn gemak bij mensen, laat me graag aaien en vind het heerlijk als je gezellig bij me komt zitten. En met een leuk speeltje maak je mij helemaal blij. Mijn zusje Munk is wat voorzichtiger dan ik. We zijn erg aan elkaar gehecht en daarom willen we graag samen verhuizen. We zoeken een rustig en liefdevol huis waar we allebei de tijd krijgen om verder te wennen. Met wat geduld verwacht ik dat ook Munk steeds meer vertrouwen krijgt.
