Adopt Adoquina

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Her foster care mom tells us: Adoquina is a very special kitty. She didn't have an easy time on the streets, which makes it hard for her to trust human touches. She spends most of her day sleeping and resting in the spot she chooses, and takes small walks, but she's not very active. She likes being petted and brushed in small doses, and she lets you know when she's had enough. She's so special that even her food is special, as she needs digestive care. She's looking for a quiet home where she can live very peacefully, and doesn't need much more. She gets along well with dogs.------ Adoquina is a 4-year-old kitty. She used to live on the streets and came to ALBA in regular health condition because she had a severe otitis and also conjunctivitis. We quickly started treatment, and she improved a lot. Although she didn't like taking her medicine much during that time and was a bit irritable, now that she's all better, Adoquina is a very affectionate kitty. She loves being petted and given attention. She would fit into many families with her good temperament, she just needs someone to finally notice her and give her a chance to experience living in a home. Are you up for coming to meet her? She has already been spayed. FELV-FIV test negative.

¿Te animas a venir a conocerla? Ya está castrada. Test FELV-FIV negativo. Mostrar más de su historia Mostrar menos

About Adoquina

What life with Adoquina looks like

Adoquina is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at ALBA Protectora Madrid in Madrid.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Adoquina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Adoquina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ALBA Protectora Madrid handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Adoquina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Adoquina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ALBA Protectora Madrid will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Adoquina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Adoquina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ALBA Protectora Madrid early rather than rehoming privately; they know Adoquina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
