Clyro

Unknown · Young · 1 year

A big heart that just needs to feel safe Clyro should not know the bars of a cage... and yet that's where it's growing up. Abandoned at just a few weeks old along with its siblings, without its mother, this very sweet Maremma (future medium-large size, born in September 2025) is spending its first months of life in a dog shelter. Clyro is a sensitive and intelligent puppy. Before interacting, it prefers to stop and observe: looks, studies, tries to understand if it can trust. In its eyes there is sweetness, but also that need to feel protected that every puppy should have. The leash currently scares it a bit, because no one has yet taught it that it can be the beginning of a happy walk beside its family. With a bit of patience, exercise and lots of love, we are sure it will make great progress and become a wonderful companion. Despite everything, it is curious and friendly, and when it realizes it can trust, it can give looks full of hope and sincere affection. But a puppy should not grow up between concrete and bars. It should run on the grass, fall asleep peacefully after a day of discoveries, learn each day what it means to be truly loved. Clyro has a big heart and so much love to give. It just needs someone who gives it time, security and a chance. Let's not let its childhood pass behind the bars of a cage. Open your heart and your home to Clyro: he will repay you with loyalty, sweetness and infinite gratitude! He is in a private accredited dog shelter in the province of Rome but we also place him in the north, after the necessary pre-adoption home checks, with a health record including deworming, vaccinations and of course with a microchip.

IT·Show original

About Clyro

What life with Clyro looks like

Clyro is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Associazione ALFA in Roma.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Clyro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Clyro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Associazione ALFA handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Clyro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Clyro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Associazione ALFA will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Clyro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Clyro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Associazione ALFA early rather than rehoming privately; they know Clyro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
