Adopt Afina

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Friendly, people-oriented, compatible. Afina already had a home and knows the life in a house. Unfortunately, her family lost their roof over their head and could not keep Afina and her four friends with heavy hearts. To spare them the hard life on the street, they came into our care. Now this loyal soul is looking for her forever dog home. Temperament & Character: Afina is an absolutely friendly and people-oriented female dog. She loves cuddles. Since she already knows the household environment, she probably already has a lot of understanding for everyday life in a family. She also gets along well with other dogs. She likes children. Health: Her jaws are no longer complete, which is probably due to her previous life or constitution. This causes her tongue to sometimes peek out nicely from the side. It does not bother her at all, on the contrary, it is her unmistakable trademark that makes everyone smile! The ideal home: Afina is not a marathon runner. She is looking for people who like to take things slowly. Afina enjoys the attention from dog-savvy children. Afina is suitable for people looking for a companion for relaxed little walks in the park. She fits people who like to sit on a park bench, or have coffee and watch the hustle and bustle with Afina. She also wants to go for walks, sniff around and play with others. Afina is not a sleeping pill...but she will enjoy being able to live peacefully with her human. All are vaccinated, microchipped and have an EU certificate. They are checked for Mediterranean diseases according to their age. See information on our homepage. Every dog placed makes room for one of those dogs who have to struggle through life hungry and emaciated.

AUFENTHALTSORT

About Afina

What life with Afina looks like

Afina is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. in Greece.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Afina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Afina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Afina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Afina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Afina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Afina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Afina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
