Akiro

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Akiro is a young, energetic and curious male dog who was born around 2025 and is approximately 40cm tall. He has been at the shelter in Sighetu since September 2026. Akiro is a foster dog and has no known owner. Akiro is a young dog type and wants to discover the world, play and experience a lot. At the same time, he is very people-oriented and enjoys the closeness to his caregivers. We are looking for people who enjoy accompanying a young dog on his journey and showing him the world with patience, loving consistency and clear structures. Because of course Akiro still has a lot to learn and that's what makes the joint development so beautiful. He gets along well with other dogs. A compatibility with cats can be tested. About his past, we do not know anything. He probably comes from the street or was abandoned there. The parent animals are not known, so no information can be given about the breeds involved.

About Akiro

What life with Akiro looks like

Akiro is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Freundeskreis Notfellchen e.V. in Dorsten.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Akiro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Akiro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Freundeskreis Notfellchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Akiro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Akiro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Freundeskreis Notfellchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Akiro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Akiro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Freundeskreis Notfellchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Akiro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
