Akiro

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

Akiro is a sweet, cuddly, affectionate, very friendly and playful black and brown dog with floppy ears and strong legs. He is a lovable, adorable puppy who loves to play, eat, sleep and romp. At the moment, these are the most important things in his day. But Akiro is growing older and bigger, and as is the case with all puppies, he wants to have fun, play and eat, but also wants to have some variety and learn a lot more. He urgently needs his/her people who love him and want to go through life with him. From Akiro's life story, it is only known that he was brought to a veterinary clinic by a mother and her daughter. They said they had found this puppy (Akiro) under their car - at an outdoor temperature of a hot 45 degrees Celsius in the early afternoon. Akiro was exhausted, dehydrated and on the verge of a circulatory collapse. The mother and daughter were not willing to take him in as a foster dog. Since he was so small, a staff member of the veterinary clinic took him in. This is how Akiro got to know children and other dogs. From the clumsy, playful puppy Akiro, he becomes a young dog who, in addition to a lot of love and affection, needs a loving and consistent upbringing without pressure. He also wants to be mentally challenged to remain a happy dog who loves, values and respects his two-legged partner/his two-legged family. We are looking for people for Akiro who have fun and joy in outdoor activities, who like to be in nature (with a dog) and who are looking forward to learning and training with a young dog to grow together as a real team. A home with loving people with a house or an apartment with a garden would be paradise for Akiro. He will welcome children and other dogs or pets.

DE·Show original

About Akiro

What life with Akiro looks like

Akiro is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Akiro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Akiro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Akiro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Akiro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Akiro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Akiro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Akiro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
