TEDDY - experienced breed enthusiasts wanted! - Male, Akita Inu, born July 2023, vaccinated, chipped, neutered. - Waiting in 33330 Gütersloh! - Experienced people and breed enthusiasts (in NRW) wanted! - The Akita Inu male born in July 2023 was brought to us because his owners were overwhelmed with him. Teddy presents himself as reserved to people at first, but then becomes friendly to adults after a short adjustment period. Due to his size, children should be a bit older and know how to handle larger dogs. He has not had much to learn in his short life, and that should be caught up on a bit. Driving a car poses no problems for him and he walks very well on a leash. Teddy loves going for walks and likes to be outside. For this reason, we are looking for a ground-level home with a garden to suit him. He reacts to other dogs based on sympathy, so we could imagine placing him with a female. Despite his "teddy-like" appearance, Teddy is not a beginner dog; we are looking for breed-savvy people who will give him a new chance with loving consistency. TEDDY is located in 33*** NRW (Gütersloh district). Race-experienced bipeds are sought for this wonderful male! Info and initial contact: Sandra Reker, email:

TEDDY - sucht erfahrene Rasseliebhaber ! - Rüde, Akita Inu , geb. Juli 2023, geimpft, gechippt, kastriert. - Wartet in 33330 Gütersloh ! Info u. Erstkontakt: Sandra Reker,- email:,-

About Akita

What life with Akita looks like

Akita is a young adult akita dog waiting at Tier-Not-Hilfe in Germany.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Akita, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Akita?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tier-Not-Hilfe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Akita on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Akita if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tier-Not-Hilfe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Akita already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Akita isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tier-Not-Hilfe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Akita and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
