adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Akumara can stay with their foster family! Her story: Caution, sugar shock! Here are Akumara and her five siblings, and they all seek a wonderful home where they can become cherished family members, transitioning from sweet puppies to beloved family members. Akumara's start in life was anything but ideal. At just three months old, she and her siblings were secretly pushed through the broken animal shelter fence one by one at night, then abandoned one by one. But now, they and their siblings are in safety with our helpers and can be taken care of for the time being. The beautiful, dark Akumara has smooth, shiny fur and a loyal look. On her belly, she sports a light fur strip that runs up to her snout. For her just three months old, she initially shows a bit of shyness towards strangers. After gaining some trust, she plays very much and explores her environment with typical puppy curiosity, wanting to discover everything around her. She shows a lot of interest and openness towards other dogs, and seems to be a attentive and perhaps more reserved female dog. When she grows up, Akumara is expected to be a medium-sized dog. We wish our cute mouse a home full of security and loving people who can take the time to teach her the entire puppy ABC and living in a family. After she settles in a bit, we also strongly recommend a visit to a positively working Hundeschule with Akumara, so she can pass her upcoming puberty with her people under professional guidance. With the right people by her side, Akumara will surely develop into a great companion and fill her owners' lives with joy. Akumara travels with her own EU pet passport after being positively screened. She also travels microchipped, vaccinated, treated for fleas, and dewormed. Where are you, then? Akumara's heart people, please contact us so the sweet one can move in soon! Thank you to Darko, from whom Akumara received her beautiful name! Date: 17.10. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

Wo seid ihr also? About Akumara

What life with Akumara looks like

Akumara is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Akumara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Akumara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Akumara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Akumara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Akumara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Akumara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Akumara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
