Alaska

Belgian Malinois · Female · Young · 2 years

Malinois Alaska – female dog with power seeks active people Alaska is a female dog, built relatively compact compared to other representatives of her breed. Now, the sweet one shows more and more what a wonderful dog lies within her: she brings incredible amounts of energy, great learning enthusiasm, and above all, immense enthusiasm for working together. The pretty female dog is a real power mouse and seeks people who are eager to go through life actively with her. Whether long hikes, jogging, or perhaps even pull dog sports… Alaska would likely have fun with anything as long as she gets to be active and use her head. Typical of Malinois, Alaska brings many traits that Malinois fans love: she is attentive, hard-working, intelligent, and wants to work closely with her people. Dogs of this type don’t just want to be exercised; they want tasks, orientation, and the feeling of being part of a team. And exactly that seems to be what Alaska is really into: cooperation. She shows great joy in working with people, learns eagerly, and brings excellent prerequisites for joint training. While Alaska is not just energy and action, she also shows herself to be an exceptionally friendly female dog. During outings, she reacted unobtrusively to cyclists, joggers, or other dogs and was always open and approachable. And if no adventures are on the horizon? She also likes to be cuddled. Malinois are rather demanding dogs, so Alaska shouldn’t be underestimated despite that. She needs movement, mental stimulation, training, and people who enjoy accompanying an active dog through life. Adopting a dog means responsibility over many years and should always be well considered. Dogs mean time and readiness to stick with them even in challenging phases. Education and joint learning always belong together – because a dog does not become a relaxed companion by itself, but through relationship, leadership, and shared experiences. For Alaska, we wish for people who ideally have dog or breed experience or at least bring the readiness to delve deeply into her needs. A dog trainer who got to know Alaska described her as a really great female dog. And we believe: For the right people, Alaska could be the perfect partner that Malinois fans dream of – full of energy, joy of life, and with a lot of enthusiasm for shared adventures.

About Alaska

What life with Alaska looks like

Alaska is a large young adult belgian malinois dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alaska, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alaska?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alaska on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alaska if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alaska already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alaska isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alaska and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
