Alaska

Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten · 8 months

identified, vaccinated, spayed, negative FIV/FELV tests. Dog-friendly, unknown dog history. Family with children ok, calm and respectful children. Outdoor access not mandatory but recommended in foster care in Les Champs-Géraux (22). We rescued Alaska with three other kittens from a breeding site where we have been intervening for over a year and a half. A very wild cat is still on site, and despite our efforts, we have not yet been able to catch her. We were only able to rescue the kittens. Alaska and his brother Arnold quickly proved to be more comfortable and affectionate than the other kittens, and also larger. A veterinary examination confirmed that they were a bit older. We suspect they were left by neighbors and joined the kittens already on site. Alaska is a friendly and affectionate kitten. He likes to rub his head against your hand to ask for cuddles. He is also a playful and energetic kitten. He will need the presence of a same-species companion. Adoption fee: 180€ Adoption process to follow (questionnaire, meeting with the kitten, home visit) adoption in Dinan (22) and within 50 km. Adoption application form:

About Alaska

What life with Alaska looks like

Alaska is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Assistance Animaux en Détresse in assistance animaux en detresse.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alaska, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alaska?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Assistance Animaux en Détresse handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alaska on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alaska if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Assistance Animaux en Détresse will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alaska already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alaska isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Assistance Animaux en Détresse early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alaska and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
