Alejo

Belgian Malinois · Male

Alejo arrived at the animal shelter from the sanitario zoo along with Virginia, so we have no idea about her past history. We don't know what she's been through or how her early years were, but each day she shows us more clearly the wonderful dog she is. Alejo is a noble, affectionate, and very affectionate dog with people. She greatly enjoys being pampered and spending time with those who pay attention to her. She has that special ability to approach seeking company and showing love in a sincere and endearing way. As a good malinois, she is an active dog who needs exercise, stimulation, and a family committed to her needs. Although both are nervous dogs, during walks it's usually Alejo who shows more energy and intensity. She likes to explore, move around, and discover everything happening around her, so she will greatly enjoy a dynamic family that wants to share activities with her. Despite her energy, she is a very noble and close dog. Behind that vitality lies a companion eager to form bonds and be part of a family that offers her time, patience, and love. We would like for Alejo not to have to grow up waiting in a kennel enclosure. She has a whole life ahead of her and deserves to find a home where she can develop her full potential, feel loved, and enjoy the stability that any dog needs.

About Alejo

What life with Alejo looks like

Alejo is a adult belgian malinois dog waiting at Protectora Malaga in Málaga.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alejo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alejo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora Malaga handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alejo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alejo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora Malaga will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alejo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alejo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora Malaga early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alejo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
