Adopt Rocky

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

When we met Rocky, it seemed that a promising future awaited him. He arrived as a small puppy, along with his siblings. They were beautiful and adorable, so it was only a matter of time before someone took an interest in them. As expected, all of them were adopted immediately, and among them, Rocky also found his perfect family, one that commits to loving an animal for life and doing whatever it takes for him. However, not all stories have a happy ending, and that is the case of Rocky. One day, after spending his first eight months with a family, our little one was returned. He had received no education and no one had bothered to socialize him with other dogs or humans, which we could see from his reaction when he arrived at the animal rescue association, despite his aggressive attitude, it was the result of the great fear he had… Currently, Rocky is a very affectionate dog who loves being in the company of people and playing with them, whether with balls, or giving you licks and cuddles. He is a submissive dog who may seem a bit nervous at first, but he knows how to control himself and will never have a bad gesture towards humans, only giving them caresses and love. With a leash, once he leaves the environment of the animal rescue association, he has learned to walk very well, as well as with a muzzle, walking alongside you without pulling, making him the ideal walking companion. Additionally, after a few group classes, he has shown to be sociable and that he just needs to learn how to interact without such intensity.

About Rocky

What life with Rocky looks like

Rocky is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Protectora Malaga in Málaga.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

Note from the shelter: Requires continued socialization training and experienced owner due to early lack of proper socialization

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rocky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rocky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora Malaga handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rocky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rocky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora Malaga will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rocky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rocky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora Malaga early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rocky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
