Alex

European Shorthair · Unknown · Kitten · 10 months

Prrrr... my name is Alex! I'm a scruffy kitten, about 10 months old, and I'm full of energy, curiosity, and cat mischief. Sitting still? Honestly, I haven't heard of it. Playing is my favorite hobby. Chasing a ball, poking my nose everywhere, going on adventures, or seeking attention from my people... I do it all with full conviction. Luckily, I'm also a real social boy who loves to be around my family. Because I have quite a bit of energy, I'm looking for a home where I can have enough space to live it up. A big house is a must for me. If you have a safe outdoor space, a field, or a forest, you might make me the happiest cat in the world! I'm a big kitten with an even bigger personality: playful, a little crazy, incredibly social, and always ready for adventure. Do you think we'd make a good match? Tell us why I would fit in so well with you. We receive many applications, so don't be afraid to tell us more about yourself, your family, and my future home. Jump in and convince us why you'd be my perfect new family!

Prrrr... mijn naam is Alex! Ik ben een struise kitten van ongeveer 10 maanden oud en ik zit boordevol energie, nieuwsgierigheid en kattenkwaad. Stilzitten? Daar heb ik eerlijk gezegd nog niet veel van gehoord. Spelen is mijn favoriete hobby.

About Alex

What life with Alex looks like

Alex is a puppy/kitten european shorthair cat waiting at Dierenasiel Ganzeweide in Veurne.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alex, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alex?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Ganzeweide handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alex on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alex if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Ganzeweide will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alex already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alex isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Ganzeweide early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alex and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
