He is well mannered, polite and a joy to be around, the kind of dog who makes you smile simply by being himself. He loves his walks and enjoys exploring the world now that he has discovered how good life can be outdoors. Although still young, Alf has already had a few homes through no fault of his own. His current owner rehomed him from a situation where he was kept indoors almost all the time and spent much of his day in a crate. Understandably, Alf can be a little startled and bark at sudden unfamiliar noises, but he settles quickly and has made wonderful progress. His current family have worked hard to socialise him, and Alf now loves being outside, watching the world go by and meeting new people and dogs. He likes to make his presence known and can bark when greeting someone new, but it comes from excitement rather than worry. Alf is now looking for a new home due to an unexpected change in his owner’s health. His ideal home would be one where he is not left alone for long, as he is still learning to feel confident without company. A garden would be perfect for him, giving him space to potter and simply enjoy the freedom of being outdoors. He would suit an adults only home, or a family with children aged 12+. Alf can be wary of men so patience is essential while he builds confidence and learns to trust. He can potentially live with another dog following a successful meet, though any female dogs must be spayed as Alf is not neutered. Cuddles are an essential part of Alf’s life, and he will flourish with someone who enjoys giving him the affection he craves.
