Adopt Alicia

Pointer · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Description Our Spanish animal welfare workers report: Alicia was wandering alone through a village near Lleida, Spain. No one was taking care of her, she had no collar, and no one knew anything about this beautiful female dog. No one seemed to recognize or care for her. A sad fate. Whether she had always lived on the streets or had been abandoned—we don't know. We suspect that the Pointer mix already had puppies (perhaps even more than one litter), as her teats are enlarged. No young dogs were found nearby. The animal welfare workers did not hesitate and brought Alicia to the safe animal shelter. Here, she can recover from the hardships of street life. Alicia is a charming female dog, very affectionate, always in good spirits, always friendly. Hunting dogs are known for being very loving and people-friendly, and Alicia is no exception. She gets along well with the other dogs without any problems. So far, she has been a rather calm representative of her kind. However, it is very hot at the moment, so many dogs tend to rest rather than play. But it's quite possible that the lovely female dog will become more active once she has settled in more at the animal shelter. Alicia was rehomed in Spain and was then returned. How sad. The reason: apparently, she whined when left alone. We cannot verify this, and it is clear that leaving a dog alone should be gradually introduced with each dog. Now we hope that Alicia will soon find a caring family who will take her in and give her a happy life. Pointers are hunting dogs that love to move and especially enjoy using their noses. Therefore, Alicia will surely feel at home in a place where her abilities are recognized and appreciated, and where someone wants to engage her appropriately. She looks forward to nice walks in nature, after which she can relax and chill at home. Where are the Pointer enthusiasts who would like to take in this wonderful female dog? About Alicia

What life with Alicia looks like

Alicia is a puppy/kitten pointer dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alicia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alicia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alicia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alicia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alicia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alicia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alicia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
