How do I contact the shelter about Alisa?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Sonnenhof Eisenstadt (Sonnentiere) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alisa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Alisa if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Sonnenhof Eisenstadt (Sonnentiere) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Alisa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Alisa isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Sonnenhof Eisenstadt (Sonnentiere) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alisa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Alisa

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Alisa is a friendly and loyal female dog. She is not entirely comfortable with strangers, especially men, and she approaches them with a certain skepticism. Therefore, Alisa will need several get-acquainted sessions to allow her potential new owners to get to know her and build trust. Once this step is taken, Alisa reveals her extremely affectionate and clingy personality. Whether it's walks, swimming, or cozy cuddle sessions, the female dog prefers to spend her time by her person's side. Due to her loyal nature, Alisa still finds it difficult to be alone, which will need to be practiced further in the new home. Because of hip dysplasia and arthritis in the elbow and shoulder areas, her physical exertion and movement need to be adjusted accordingly. The female dog gets along well with fellow animals, but in the new home, she would prefer to be the only animal. Alisa is looking for dog-experienced people without children who can offer her a new home with a garden.

About Alisa

What life with Alisa looks like

Alisa is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Sonnenhof Eisenstadt (Sonnentiere) in Austria.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.
