Adopt Allegra

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Allegra is a young female dog who, despite her difficult past, looks optimistically to the future – curious, eager to learn, and with a heart that just wants to finally fit in. The approximately 2-year-old, around 60 cm tall female dog has lived for several months on a private foster home and there she shows what a friendly and open companion she can be. She meets new people with interest and curiosity, approaches them gently, and remains always pleasant and unobtrusive. Her warm, amber eyes and her slightly bent left ear are particularly noticeable – a quiet testament to her difficult start in life, which she has overcome with remarkable gentleness. It is likely that Allegra has some herding dog in her background. Therefore, we would like to see her in a home with people who are familiar with the characteristics of these dogs or are willing to learn about them. A house with a securely fenced yard would be ideal, so she can observe her surroundings in peace and move freely. Allegra gets along well with other dogs; cats have not yet been tested. Allegra is age-appropriate still in the middle of her development. Like many young dogs, she tests boundaries and must still fully understand life in the household. With patience, clear guidance, and loving consistency, she will orient herself well and continue to develop. It is important to give her the time to adapt to new impressions, everyday noises, and routines like house training and being alone. Some symptoms here are age-related.

About Allegra

What life with Allegra looks like

Allegra is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Arme Hundeseelen in Năsăud.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇷🇴Adopting from Romania

Romanian rescues handle the highest volume of cross-border adoptions in the EU. Animals are quarantined and fully vetted before transport. Reputable rescues maintain detailed health records and post-adoption follow-up.

Frequently asked

Adopting Allegra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Allegra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Arme Hundeseelen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Allegra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Allegra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Arme Hundeseelen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Allegra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Allegra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Arme Hundeseelen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Allegra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
