Almendra

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

♀, born around 2024, social - friendly - active in Spain Almendra is a ca. 2024 born mixed-breed female Mastin Espanõl(?) dog with a shoulder height of around 80 cm. Almendra sought refuge on a farm at the beginning of November 2024 with another dog. The two young dogs were desperately searching for food and water. They were most likely abandoned and left to fend for themselves. Almendra and her companion were safely brought to the local animal shelter. Her companion (likely her brother) already found a home. Now, Almendra is eagerly seeking a loving, adequate home and a cozy warm dog bed to live in security and well-being, happily. The friendly, active, and rather sturdy female dog is now looking for engaged people who can spend a lot of time with her, challenge and nurture her, teach her the dog ABC with patience and calm, ideally with regular visits to dog training classes, and integrate her into their daily life. With this, Almendra will finally experience the affection, love, and care she has not had before. Almendra is well compatible with fellow animals of both sexes. She would love and do well with further social-compatible sovereign fellow animals, preferably of similar age and size, in a rehoming situation. For Almendra, a loving home with active people is sought who can spend a lot of time with her, have joy and fun in activities with her, and explore the world together, as she has likely not experienced much so far and is also not a couch potato. A rural home and environment would be desirable and ideal for her. Cats and/or small pets should not be present in her future home. Almendra will be neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested for Mediterranean diseases. She is located at the animal shelter in Manzanares, Spain. The adoption fee for Almendra is 460 Euros. About Almendra

What life with Almendra looks like

Almendra is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Almendra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Almendra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Almendra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Almendra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Almendra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Almendra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Almendra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
