Almendra

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 9 months

We're republishing Almendra's listing. She's still a puppy, and while she still has a lot to learn, she is extremely affectionate, and she's having a hard time at the shelter. Almendra is only 6 months old and is looking for a real chance. She was taken in together with her mother and siblings when she was a puppy. Shortly after, she was adopted by a family who fell in love with her, but being separated from her canine family so early and lacking proper socialization meant that Almendra could not develop all the tools a puppy needs to grow up well-balanced. Today she is an affectionate dog with people, intelligent and eager to learn, but she still needs to keep working on her relationships with other dogs and to gain confidence in certain situations. That's why we are NOT looking for just any adoption. We are looking for a committed, patient, and responsible family that will continue the work our volunteers are doing. A family that understands Almendra doesn't need pity. She needs time. She needs stability. She needs learning. She needs commitment. And, above all, she needs a family that is willing to walk with her for her entire life.

About Almendra

What life with Almendra looks like

Almendra is a puppy mixed breed dog waiting at SPA Teruel Amigo Mío in Spain.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee. Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Almendra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Almendra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Teruel Amigo Mío handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Almendra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Almendra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Teruel Amigo Mío will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Almendra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Almendra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Teruel Amigo Mío early rather than rehoming privately; they know Almendra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
