I'm Alois Vera, a smooth-edged hinged tortoise. I came to the shelter because my humans separated. I'm looking for a new home, either alone or with my buddy, Ralf Rooibos. Here's a little about me: I'm female, weigh about 475 g, and am about 14 cm long. My species has specific requirements regarding housing and climate, so my animal caretakers offer detailed advice – or perhaps you even have experience with my species. I'd love a home with people who have experience keeping smooth-edged hinged tortoises or are willing to learn. Outdoor housing is only possible in summer and only with a heated shelter or greenhouse. Air temperatures of 26–31 °C are important during the summer months and 23–26 °C during the winter months, with a clear temperature gradient. A year-round basking spot of around 45 °C is necessary. Humidity should be around 80% in summer and 60–70% in winter. For keeping terrariums, a minimum size of 180 × 80 × 80 cm per animal is required. Ich bin Alois Vera eine Glattrand-Gelenkschildkröte. Ins Tierheim kam ich wegen der Trennung meiner Menschen. Ich suche allein oder mit meinem Kumpel Ralf Rooibos ein neues Zuhause. Das bin ich: Ich bin weiblich, wiege ca. 475 g und bin etwa 14 cm groß. Meine Art stellt hohe Anforderungen an Haltung und Klima, deshalb beraten meine Tierpfleger:innen hier ausführlich – oder vielleicht hast du ja sogar schon Erfahrungen mit meiner Art. Ich wünsche mir ein Zuhause bei Menschen mit Kenntnissen in der Haltung von Glattrand-Gelenkschildkröten oder entsprechender Lernbereitschaft. Freilandhaltung ist ausschließlich im Sommer möglich und nur mit beheiztem Schutz- oder Gewächshaus. Wichtig sind Lufttemperaturen von 26–31 °C im Sommerhalbjahr sowie 23–26 °C im Winterhalbjahr, jeweils mit einem deutlichen Wärmegefälle. Ein ganzjähriger Hitzespot mit ca. 45 °C ist notwendig. Die Luftfeuchtigkeit sollte im Sommer bei etwa 80 %, im Winter bei 60–70 % liegen. Bei Terrarienhaltung wird eine Mindestgröße von 180 × 80 × 80 cm pro Tier vorausgesetzt.
