Krötus Tier-ID: 354 Im animal shelter seit: 06.10.2018 (Aktuelle Interessenten: 0) Greek tortoises (Testudo hermanni), male -Single placement- The population of tortoises in our foster home has increased, unfortunately with a "male surplus." In order to continue taking in emergency cases, we are seeking a new home for this male, approximately 6.5-year-old tortoise. He is Herpes-negative, Mycoplasma-positive* tested, but has been symptom-free so far. We would place the male in single housing due to his gender and Mycoplasma test result. Placement will occur exclusively in a protected and well-structured outdoor enclosure (secure pen with nursery/greenhouse, heat source) with proper overwintering possibilities. Greek tortoises are not suitable as pets for everyone. They are demanding in terms of husbandry, and good specialized knowledge is necessary. If you have questions about husbandry or the design of the enclosure, we are happy to assist. Since Greek tortoises are protected under the law, permission from the local landscape authority for the long-term care of found animals with a legal ownership ban is required (the animal shelter will guide you through this process). * Mycoplasma = respiratory disease.

What life with Krötus looks like

Krötus is an adult animal waiting at Tierschutzverein Lippstadt und Umgebung e.V. in Germany.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Krötus far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

Adopting Krötus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Krötus?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Lippstadt und Umgebung e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Krötus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Krötus if I live in another country?

Sometimes. Whether a animal can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask Tierschutzverein Lippstadt und Umgebung e.V. what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.

Is Krötus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

What a animal comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask Tierschutzverein Lippstadt und Umgebung e.V. directly what is included and what Krötus still needs.

What happens if Krötus isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Lippstadt und Umgebung e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Krötus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
