Adopt Alvin

Rottweiler · Male · Adult · 8 years

Sure, honestly, particularly: Alvin is looking for you 👀 Alvin needs a primary caregiver who can provide clarity and structure. The mixed-breed male dog knows what he wants and clearly shows when something doesn't suit him. However, this is no reason to shy away, for once trust is built, he's got everything. Swimming (little water rat), walks in the forest, or cozy movie-watching – as long as you're there! Our "Riesenbaby" has been more prone to health issues since childhood, including joint problems that need addressing. For Alvin, we are looking for responsible owners with dog experience who are willing to take the time to become a great human-dog team. Interested in our handsome fellow? Great! Alvin is excited to meet you 😊. Alvin is a really great little guy! Once he respects you, he goes through thick and thin with you. For him, we really need people who know what they're doing, and then Alvin will reward you a thousand times over ❤️. Alvin is a really great little guy! Interesse an unserem gutaussehenden Burschen? Prima! Alvin freut sich, Dich kennenzulernen 😊. Alvin ist ein richtig toller Bub! Wenn er einen erstmal respektiert, geht er mit Dir durch dick und dünn. Für ihn brauchen wir wirklich Menschen, die wissen, was sie tun, dann belohnt Alvin Dich auch 1000fach zurück ❤️. Alvin ist ein richtig toller Bub! About Alvin

What life with Alvin looks like

Alvin is a small adult rottweiler dog waiting at Tierheim Dornbirn in Dornbirn.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Joint problems requiring ongoing care and management

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alvin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alvin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Dornbirn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alvin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alvin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Dornbirn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alvin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alvin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Dornbirn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alvin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
