Amadeus

British Shorthair · Male · Young · 3 years

Our friendly cat is looking for a home where he can enjoy the full attention of his humans. He was probably born in 2023. He is very open, friendly and people-oriented. He enjoys petting and cuddling, but is also happy to play. Larger, understanding children would be welcome to join his new family. He does not want to share his home with other cats, and dogs are not an option for him either. He is therefore looking for a place as a single prince, where he can get the full attention of his humans. He would be very happy with a spacious apartment with a secure balcony where he can breathe fresh air and observe his surroundings. We are currently still in the process of allergy testing. Therefore, he currently needs medication and special food. His future owners should be willing to accompany him in further clarification and reliably ensure his necessary care. If you are looking for a friendly, cuddly and playful cat and can offer him a suitable home, you are welcome to get to know him. We wish for him people who take him as he is and give him a loving place for life. If you would like to get to know him, please click on the "Request cat" button and fill out the online form completely. This way we will receive all relevant information for an initial conversation in advance.

About Amadeus

What life with Amadeus looks like

Amadeus is a large young adult british shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Ludwigshafen in Ludwigshafen/Rheim.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amadeus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amadeus?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Ludwigshafen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amadeus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amadeus if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Ludwigshafen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Amadeus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amadeus isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Ludwigshafen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amadeus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
