Officer Kirby

British Shorthair · Male

Officer Kirby, Rar Capone, Prof. Nimnul, and Samson Jack, five beautiful British Shorthair (BKH) and British Longhair (BLH) cats from a shelter, are looking for a loving home. The animals are British Shorthair (BKH) and British Longhair (BLH) - popular breeds, but like all animals in the shelter, they are not looking for a home because of their breed, but because of their individual character. The three neutered cats Al Katzone, Officer Kirby, and Rar Capone are British Shorthair (BKH). Prof. Nimnul and Samson Jack are British Longhair (BLH). All five come from a large seizure due to animal-unfriendly keeping in a messy household. In their previous life, they probably had little contact with people. Therefore, they are still very reserved and approach unfamiliar people with great caution. They need time, patience, and a home where no one expects anything from them, but where they can build trust at their own pace. We are looking for a quiet home for our British Shorthair and British Longhair cats in a residential setting. A hectic everyday life or frequently changing situations would overwhelm the sensitive animals. Instead, we want people who can give them security and enjoy small successes. Some of the cats can be adopted together, as they give each other orientation and support.

About Officer Kirby

What life with Officer Kirby looks like

Officer Kirby is a large adult british shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Ludwigshafen in Ludwigshafen/Rheim.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Officer Kirby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Officer Kirby?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Ludwigshafen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Officer Kirby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Officer Kirby if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Ludwigshafen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Officer Kirby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Officer Kirby isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Ludwigshafen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Officer Kirby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
