Amara

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! In the gray walls of a public shelter in Baia Mare, a large female dog waits for her chance at a new life. Amara, likely a herding dog mix of about 5 years old, has a story hidden in the shadows of uncertainty. Her origin is unknown, but her gaze speaks volumes—a longing and sorrowful expression that touches the hearts of those who pass by her kennel. With a shoulder height of around 65 cm, Amara is an imposing presence. Her beautiful fur, which shines in a fascinating black and white pattern, and her gentle, black face with its trusting brown eyes give her a majestic aura. But behind this beauty lies a vulnerable soul that seeks love and security. Amara is a female dog who has endured much in her time. Yet, despite all the terrible experiences, Amara has not given up hope and is becoming braver. Now, she is very good at being taken out of her kennel and will let anyone pet her after a short get-to-know-you phase. With much love and patience, she will surely make many more progress. She gets along well with fellow animals, regardless of gender. As a herding dog mix, Amara needs a home where she can express her natural instincts. Herding dogs bring many wonderful qualities. One gets a loyal and faithful companion who can best flourish in a rural home with a fenced yard, where he has plenty of space to run and play, as well as the opportunity to be active. When one delves into the qualities of herding dogs, one realizes that they are independent personalities that impress with their intelligence and imposing presence. Herding dogs make independent decisions. Therefore, one should familiarize oneself with the traits of such breeds beforehand, as consistency and empathy by the owner are essential. Routines and guidelines are helpful for leading a wonderful life with these great dogs. People who have already had experiences with herding dogs will never want another breed as a companion. Amara has not known life in a home and she must learn the whole ABC of being a household pet. It will certainly not all work out right away. The more important it is to consistently and lovingly convey family rules and to forgive the occasional mishap. For leash manners, house training, basic commands, car rides, and patience with people are not something that any fur nose is born with. One should be aware of this when choosing a dog from an animal shelter, whether puppy, young dog, adult dog, or senior. We are looking for emphatic and experienced people for Amara who understand her needs and can help her gain trust. People who are willing to give her the time she needs to open up and show her true personality. A positively working dog training class with experience in working with animal shelter dogs could be supportive in this. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 16.08.2026

About Amara

What life with Amara looks like

Amara is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Amara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
