Ambo

Mixed Breed ยท Unknown

Super cuddle power with love bites. Meows from far, comes, meows, follows, meows. Cuddles, mews and then come the love bites. ๐Ÿ™‚ Nice cat to live with. Comes for contact but not an attention seeker. Amazing regarding his story. He was living wild with two other cats in a valley, completely scared of people. When they found them they had to corner them and catch them in a hard way. They were totally wild. We couldn't go near them in the beginning. His original name was Amber, referring to the color, but changed to Ambo to sound a bit more masculine. Means 'both' in Spanish. Now he is social with cats and humans. Lovely companion, looking for a new home! ๐Ÿ˜‰

About Ambo

What life with Ambo looks like

Ambo is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tenerife Animal Sanctuary in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction โ€” every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธAdopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically โ‚ฌ250โ€“โ‚ฌ400 for a dog, โ‚ฌ100โ€“โ‚ฌ180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ambo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ambo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tenerife Animal Sanctuary handles screening and the adoption contract directly โ€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ambo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ambo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad โ€” Tenerife Animal Sanctuary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra โ‚ฌ100โ€“โ‚ฌ350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ambo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported โ€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ambo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work โ€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tenerife Animal Sanctuary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ambo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect โ€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
