American Staffordshire Terriermix Cosmo &#8211

Mixed Breed · Female

Cosmo was surrendered to us due to a pending confiscation due to illegal husbandry. He is fundamentally friendly, although his temperament can sometimes get in the way. If he is fully provoked, he shows a tendency towards the spitting response, but there are also moments when he can behave quite well. Clearly, proper training is lacking, as he can, if he wants to. He is very eager to learn and is still at the beginning of his life. For Cosmo, people with experience in dealing with his temperament and stubbornness are needed, as then Cosmo can become a exemplary companion. Tempo games should be dosed and controlled, and Cosmo should be allowed to thrive with head work when adequately stimulated. He is not fundamentally incompatible, but in his own household, there should only be a female dog present that matches his temperament and can serve as an example. He has already lived with cats, but found joy in hunting games, so there should not be any in the future household. If there are, they should not be exposed to danger, and this also applies to any other potentially present animal species. Cosmo's basic upbringing simply needs more time and sufficient attention to gain his trust regarding this. There is still too much confetti in his head. Children should be well-established and preferably experienced in handling dogs. With appropriate stimulation, he can already stay alone for a little while, but since he has always been in a dog pack, he needs corresponding adaptation time. A dog training visit is a prerequisite, as well as the observance of certain husbandry regulations for this breed. For serious interest, we are happy to assist. Preferably, a property with a garden is desired, but suitable apartment living is also possible. Who would like to show the temperamental Blue Bear that even bumblebees sometimes have off days?

DE·Show original

About American Staffordshire Terriermix Cosmo &#8211

What life with American Staffordshire Terriermix Cosmo &#8211 looks like

American Staffordshire Terriermix Cosmo &#8211 is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting American Staffordshire Terriermix Cosmo &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about American Staffordshire Terriermix Cosmo &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw American Staffordshire Terriermix Cosmo &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt American Staffordshire Terriermix Cosmo &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is American Staffordshire Terriermix Cosmo &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if American Staffordshire Terriermix Cosmo &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know American Staffordshire Terriermix Cosmo &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
