Amias

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

Amias is searching for his happiness. Even the small Amias did not have an easy start in life. Together with his siblings, he was left in a sack at our Bulgarian animal shelter. Fortunately, the puppies were discovered in time. Amias is now ready to begin his new life and is searching for a loving family or foster home. The small male dog is friendly, curious, and typically playful for a puppy. He loves to romp around with the other dogs, bravely exploring his surroundings, and is delighted by any affection. Amias was born with a small congenital handicap: he was born without a proper tail or has a shortened tail. This does not affect him in any way in everyday life and does not diminish his joy at all. For Amias, we wish people who will guide him through dog training with patience and understanding. A puppy brings joy, but also requires time, calm, and loving consistency to learn things like house training, leash walking, or being left alone. Of course, Amias also wants to be physically and mentally age-appropriately stimulated. He wants to learn, be encouraged, and grow together with his people to become a loyal companion. Now, Amias only needs a home where he can arrive and finally experience the beautiful sides of life. Adopting an animal shelter dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also be a challenge. The dogs bring a backpack of past experiences or unlearned situations with them and need time to adjust to their new life. If you have serious interest in adopting Amias, please contact the responsible mediator of the SALVA Dog Aid. We would also be very happy about the provision of a foster home.

About Amias

What life with Amias looks like

Amias is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amias, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amias?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amias on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amias if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Amias already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amias isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amias and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
