Amigo

Male · Adult · 4 years

Meet Amigo - an active, charming, young, gentleman to take. As his name suggests, he is a friendly, pleasant dog with whom it's great to spend time. He keeps his distance from other dogs and does not seek contact. In the kennel, he lived with a female dog and had a great relationship. He can certainly be considered as a second dog. At first, he pulls on the leash because he loves smells, and it's clear that the grass is what he loves most. Over time, he will also come to love the relationship with a person; he has the potential, he just doesn't know yet what fun it brings. He doesn't ask for contact, but when encouraged, he lets himself be petted and even smiles with his tail. If you ask him to play, he will happily jump at you and very willingly accept not only pats, but also any treats. He eats delicately, accepts touch with dignity, waits patiently, allows his paws to be lifted, and lets you look into his ears. Visits to the city are trouble-free, traffic, noise, pedestrians - boredom. He looks around a lot, fascinated by the world, sniffs the flowerbeds. He also does not pull on the leash in the city, and if he does, it is easy to control. Definitely suitable as a city guy, of course, provided we also give him long walks with bushing in the fields - balance in nature is essential! Drawbacks? It depends on who you are - he is active, likes to run in the fields, dig holes, spend time in motion - so I don't recommend him to house owners, lovers of walks around the block, but definitely to those who love wandering, forest people - absolutely! Amigo is a medium-sized red-haired dog with a pleasant tail and an even more pleasant character. I think he would suit a family with children, active people who like to walk with a dog and lie in the park on the grass, but of course, we invite you for a meeting walk to see if you like each other. If you have questions, call or write - I am available - volunteer Karolina phone/Whatsapp - 501051386, Messenger Kika Kaja If you want to help this dog but cannot adopt him - we invite you for walks! polski English Deutsch Poznajcie Amigo - aktywnego, sympatycznego, młodego, kawalera do wzięcia. About Amigo

What life with Amigo looks like

Amigo is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Choszczno in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amigo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amigo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Choszczno handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amigo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amigo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Choszczno will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Amigo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amigo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Choszczno early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amigo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
