adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Amir has found its own home directly! His story: Amir and his siblings Gimli, Franz, Ferdinand, Odo, Kiri, Siska, Feline, Malia, and Lidy had a truly difficult start in life. Their mother Fee gave birth to the litter in an abandoned house in a village near Zalau. The neighborhood found out and wanted to kill the puppies. Our animal rescuer Sonia saved the mother and the ten puppies and brought them to her home in the garden. As the puppies grew very quickly and Sonia could only keep them until mid-February, the little ones are desperately in need of a home. The sweet white Amir is a true work of art. With his light brown ears and light brown spots, he is simply breathtaking. He already weighs a proud 8 kg on the scale and is likely to grow even more, his mother measures 63 cm. Amir is typical for a puppy, very playful. He likes people very much and enjoys being stroked. Whether he also likes fellow animals, including cats, we do not know. He must of course still get used to a leash and harness, but that should not be a problem. Amir is looking for people who do not expect anything from him at first and show him how a normal dog life works. He is still a baby and has a lot to learn. Sometimes a mishap should not be held against him and Amir should always be accompanied with a positive reinforcement training style. He is looking forward to his new life with beautiful nature walks, many cuddle hours, and also a visit to puppy school. In the first year of life, puppies should not be left alone as much as possible. Additionally, the more demanding puberty is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the little rascals' lives upside down. They "forget" often everything they have learned so far and their ears are on full alert. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to consistently but lovingly educate. But there is also good news: It is only a phase and it will pass! Amir travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, with his EU pet passport in his luggage. A positive adoption would be very, very helpful, but also a foster home would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Alexa! You have given Amir a name and thus an identity. Status: 07.01.

Stand: 07.01.2025

About Amir

What life with Amir looks like

Amir is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amir, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amir?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amir on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amir if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Amir already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amir isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amir and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
