Adopt Amour

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 3 years

Amour is a very friendly female dog who has been in our partner shelter "Hogar de Asis" in La Carolina since she was a few weeks old. In August 2023, she was brought to our animal shelter together with her siblings and mother Bamali by our animal welfare colleague Tere from a city Perrera. Here, she was raised with much love, care, and experience, allowing her to develop physically and mentally to her best. At our animal shelter, she has made many positive experiences with her caregivers and helpers and has never had to experience anything negative, building a close and trusting bond with her two caregivers Tere and Josephine. Unfortunately, like many herding dog mix breeds, she still hasn't found a proper home yet, which is completely incomprehensible to us, because Amour is a dream dog with a dream for every lover of large dogs. At night, the three gentle giants on the left side of the animal shelter can run freely and protect their little friends in the large paddock. Amour likes to play and patrol, but she also likes to lie on a nice spot and observe a lot. She only barks when it really has to be and makes sense for her. In her new home, a single existing dog or a small group can be present. She is accustomed to living with other dogs from a young age and feels comfortable in company. As you can see in the videos below, Amour went on a city trip including an auto ride and a visit to an ice cream cafe. The waitress was very fond of Amour. Although she is a complete stranger, Amour allowed herself to be stroked patiently and relaxed. While we see Amour in her future home in a small city apartment, we can also take her on outings or trips if that happens during the weekend or on vacation. We are very proud of our big girl and how well she behaves. Amour is a fundamentally good soul, and we hope that she will soon be recognized by the right people. The long wait should be worth it for Amour, and we are looking for her herding dog enthusiasts or those who want to learn more about these breeds and become a herding dog fan. A spacious apartment with a terrace or garden would suit her. For nature-loving people who enjoy spending a lot of time outdoors, a suitable apartment in a rural setting is also possible. What we do not want is a purely outdoor or paddock setup. These breeds are pack-oriented and always want to be involved. Amour wants to enter the house and enjoy a clean, soft sleeping spot. © 2006-2024 by animal welfare association Europa e.V. This cat is to be kept indoors only.

© 2006-2024 by Tierschutzverein Europa e.V. - All rights reserved

About Amour

What life with Amour looks like

Amour is a extra-large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amour, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amour?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amour on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amour if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Amour already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amour isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amour and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
