Anacleta

Podenco · Female · Senior · 11 years

Podenco mix Anacleta is looking for a loving home for her golden years. Anacleta is an older dog currently living in foster care in Germany and now seeking her forever home. Unfortunately, we know nothing about her life before coming into animal welfare care. Anacleta more than deserves the chance to finally spend her senior years in a safe and secure environment—surrounded by people who will accept her just as she is. This sweet lady is both deaf and blind. As a result, she’ll need a bit more time to adjust to a new environment and build trust. Especially during the first few days, it’s crucial to provide her with a sense of security, establish routines, and give her the opportunity to explore everything at her own pace. Since Anacleta can’t see or hear her surroundings, you should always announce your presence gently and avoid surprising her with sudden touches. If she gets startled, she might briefly snap out of uncertainty—a reaction that’s entirely understandable, given that she’s missing two of her most important senses. With a calm, thoughtful approach and a little patience, this behavior can be easily avoided. Anacleta no longer needs big adventures; instead, she longs for a peaceful daily routine, a soft bed to sleep on, short walks, and people who can offer her the security that her impaired senses can no longer provide. We’re looking for a understanding and calm home for Anacleta—one that’s willing to give her the time she needs to settle in. Anyone who opens their heart to this special senior dog will soon realize that even a deaf and blind dog can lead a fulfilling life—as long as they have the right people by their side. After everything Anacleta has likely already experienced, together with her, we couldn’t wish for anything more than that she finally spends her final years exactly where she belongs: loved, cared for, and safe.

About Anacleta

What life with Anacleta looks like

Anacleta is a large senior podenco dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Anacleta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Anacleta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Anacleta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Anacleta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Anacleta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Anacleta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Anacleta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
